Quatre femmes qui n’avaient jamais eu physiquement affaire à une arme tirent pour la première fois avec un pistolet dans une salle de tir. J’observe le moment où les tireuses se confrontent à leurs propres limites, leurs expériences et leur perception/représentation de la violence, moment que je fixe avec une caméra highspeed 16mm (150 images/seconde).
« Fokus » est projetée en boucle. La bande-son originale (la respiration des femmes et les coups de feu) est diffusée sur casque d’écoute placé en face de la projection. Ainsi, au moment où il reçoit l’image, le spectateur muni d’un casque se trouve, à l’instar des performeuses, dans une position isolée.
Avec « Fokus » je propose également une tentative de questionner les représentations de la violence dans leur rapport au genre (gender) telles que construites par les médias visuels.

Vier Frauen, die nie zuvor physisch mit Waffen in Kontakt kamen, schiessen zum ersten Mal in einem Schiesssportkeller mit einer Pistole. Was in diesem kurzen Moment der Konfrontation mit ihren eigenen Grenzen und Erfahrungen von Gewaltwahrnehmung/-darstellung geschieht, wird mithilfe einer spezial 16mm–Highspeed Kamera (150 Bilder/Sekunde) festgehalten.
„Fokus“ wird als Loop projiziert. Die Originaltonaufnahmen (die Atmung der Frauen und der Schuss) sind über Kopfhörer zu hören. So befindet sich der/die BetrachterIn im Moment der Bildrezeption in derselben „isolierten“, mit Kopfhörern ausgestatteten Situation wie die gefilmten Frauen.
Als Ausgangslage stellt sich auch die Frage, wie mediale Gewaltdarstellung und Geschlechtermodelle zueinander stehen, ein Versuch eine differenzierte Fragestellung zu Gewalt und geschlechterspezifischer Gewaltdarstellung zu ermöglichen.

Four women, who have never before had any contact with weapons, shoot a pistol for the first time at an indoor gun range. The women confront their own limits and experiences of the perception and representation of violence. This brief moment of confrontation has been recorded using a special 16mm high-speed camera (150 frames/second).
“Fokus” is projected on loop. The original sound track (the breathing of the women and the shot) can be heard through headphone. As the observer watches the film, they are in the same “isolated” situation as the women in the film, who are also wearing headphones.
“Fokus” is also set against the backdrop of the question of how violence and gender roles are depicted in the media. It is an attempt to questioning these representations of violence and roles constructions.
